The Online Home for Trumbull CT Dog Owners

If you feel a dog is being aggressive, politely talk to the owner. Remind them of the posted park rules about aggressive dogs. If the owner of an aggressive dog refuses to leave the park, please call the Animal Control Officer at 452-5088 and provide details. Upon your return home, please email us about the incident at
trumbulldogpark@yahoo.com so that we can record it in our park activity log.

We rely on the visitors of the dog park to police themselves just as they would anywhere else in town. The responsibilities of the dog owners remain the same. At all times the Vicious Dog Ordinance is in effect. Visitors to the dog park do so at their own risk.

REMEMBER, IF AT ANYTIME YOU FEEL YOUR DOG’S SAFETY IS AT RISK, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REMOVE YOUR DOG FROM THE PARK.

IF YOU ARE THE OWNER OF A DOG WHO IS BEHAVING AGGRESSIVELY THAT DAY AND/OR IF
SOMEONE HAS ASKED YOU TO REMOVE YOUR DOG FROM THE PARK, PLEASE DO SO IMMEDIATELY!

My husband were somewhat involved in developing a dog park in the town we used to live in. Once thing the developers (a group of dog trainers, vets and doggie daycare professionals) taught us is that you should never bring your dog into a dog park while leashed. The restraint of the leash can make a dog feel stressed and on the defensive, causing agression My advice would be to make sure that all leashes are removed in the fenced area prior to entering the park. We should all carry our leashes with us in case there is an incident when a dog needs to be removed, but bringing your dog into the general area on a leash is probably a bad idea. If you are concerned about how your dog will act in the park, the best thing might be to place them in the small dog area (provided no other dogs are there) unleashed so they can get to used to the park and other dogs through the fence.
